The Braille Tutor

A computer learning aid for braille

The Braille Tutor

An aid for sighted people learning Braille.

The software uses the home keys as the 6 keys of a Perkins to enable you to practise your Braille skills with instant feedback. Text is displayed and you are prompted to enter the Braille version. As you progress through the lessons more contractions are used.

It also allows the opposite – display Braille and prompt you to enter the text so you can practise your reading skills.

The software development is done – although there is always more that could be done and I welcome suggestions. The product needs lesson text before it can be released so please get in touch if you have a set of lessons or know someone who does or have a suggestion for what lessons to do. For further information please contact me, details are on the contact page.

Suggest a Lesson

Do you have a good suggestion for text to use in The Braille Tutor?
Each lesson requires text that is appropriate to the contractions being learnt so if you have a short and snappy sentence click here or go to the Lessons page to submit your suggestion. The best ones will be included in the software and credit given to you (if you choose).
